OUR MOON HAS BLOOD CLOTS BY RAHUL PANDITA: REVIEW

What a heart-wrenching book it is.

This book is far too emotional. And I don’t know how many times I started to write a review and couldn’t write it up. Sometimes, it happens, you happen to like something very much but end up with no words to you describe how you feel about it, and the same is with this book. I seriously don’t have any words to describes how I felt after reading this book. So here, I am not gonna write a technical review.

This book is a loathsome story of broken people...broken hearts...broken lives...

It makes you realize what Kashmiri pandits went through. It covers both 1947 attacks of tribal/Pathans on Kashmiri Pandits in Pak-occupied Kashmir and 1989-90 attacks on Pandits, leading to the mass exodus.

The author has factually written everything, without any character assassination. The pain of leaving home, losing a cousin who believed in his friends enough to stay in Kashmir, school friends who become militants and die young, seeing mother's mental trauma to be in exile couldn't have been easy. This is one story but it happened to millions of Pandits.

I felt a heartache reading each page of this book. This book is not quite a history of exodus of a community, it is more a personal story. It explains the environment of fear and persecution very well.

This is a must-read but recommended only for open and unbiased minds.
