DA VINCI CODE REVIEW

Updated: Sep 8, 2020

This novel is based on art, religion, manipulation, secrets, power, family, women n femininity, cunning and cleverness.🤍

I heard that this book is controversial as it has many upsetting notions about the religion Christianity. It takes an open minded person to read this and to remember its plot and puzzles. Instead it brings up a lot of important questions about the Christian church, and the loss of paganism and the respect of the Goddess or the Woman.

So the story goes as, Robert Langdon is awakened by a phone call in the middle of the night. The curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum, his body covered in confusing symbols. As Langdon and Sophie Neveu (curator's grand daughter) sort out the various riddles, they discover an unsettling story. Sophie learns that her grand mother and her brother were still alive. She felt amazing after learning about this and the reason they had to stay away. During the reunion, she even discovers that her family is, indeed, of the bloodline of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. And they were also very stunned to discover a chain of clues hidden in the works of Leonardo da Vinci—clues visible for all to see and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter. After all the discoveries, Sophie and Langdon part and promise to meet in Florence in a month. Back in Paris, Langdon comprehends the poem, which leads him to the small pyramid built into the ground in the Louvre, where he is sure the Grail must be hidden, and tuely it was there.

But what took the story to a next level for me was the amount of detail included for every component. Its the complex series of puzzles in this story that takes to an another level. Each new puzzle creates its own spark of drama directing readers to challenge what they do and do not know about Jesus, Mary Magdalene, languages, culture, locations, etc.

What if Jesus Christ had a tryst with Mary Magdalene, and the interlude produced a child? This question is still making me think of various concepts.🤨
